Keyword Research tabs in detail
A tour of App Keywords, Keyword Family, Keyword Teardown, Keyword Performance, Worldwide Impact and Keyword Opportunity.
Updated September 30, 2026
Each Keyword Research tab answers a different question about your keywords. This article walks through what you'll find on each one. For the metrics themselves, see Keyword metrics explained.
App Keywords
Track the keywords already driving visibility for your app and monitor ranking movement.
- Keyword picker – chips for every keyword your app ranked for in the top 100 over the last 7 days. Click a chip to track or untrack it. See Track keywords.
- Ranking Trend Overview – for the date range you pick: the number of keywords in each band (Top 1 to Top 31-100), a chart of how those counts changed, and a Keyword ranking flow chart showing how keywords moved between bands from start to end.
- My Keywords – your tracked keywords with Volume, Difficulty, Relevance, Chance, a Rank column for your app and each selected competitor, and Top Apps. Newly added keywords stay at the top until you sort.
Keyword Family
See how your keywords cluster into themes, so you can spot broader topics and expansion paths.
- Keyword Family Landscape – bubbles for the top families, sized by volume. Click a bubble to see its keywords, and click again to go back.
- Family Size by Combinations – families ranked by how many related combinations they contain.
- Keyword Families – a table of families. Expand a family to see its keywords, with Total Volume, Combinations and each app's rank.
Select keywords and click Send to app keywords to start tracking them. Both charts can be downloaded as PNG.
Keyword Teardown
Benchmark the apps that rank for a single keyword.
- Pick one of your ranked keywords from the chips, or search for any keyword. The highest-volume keyword is selected by default.
- Review the table of ranking apps, in order of Position:
- Metadata – icon, title and subtitle, bundle ID and screenshots.
- Metrics – Authority, Installs, Revenue, Ratings, Ratings Histogram and Category rank.
- In-App Purchases – Subscriptions and One-time purchases (App Store only).
If the top results are all apps with very high Authority and ratings, the keyword may be hard to win. Look for keywords where apps similar to yours already rank well.
Keyword Performance
Measure how your tracked keywords evolve over a date range, compared with competitors.
- App Visibility – each app's visibility percentage over time.
- Keyword Coverage by Rank – how your tracked keywords are spread across rank bands.
- Position Mix Over Time – how that spread changed during the period.
- Tracked Keyword Performance – each keyword's values at the end of the period, with arrows showing change since the start, and a Rank History sparkline per app.
Use this tab after you publish new metadata to see which keywords moved.
Worldwide Impact
Compare one keyword across every market.
- Pick or search for a keyword.
- On the Worldwide Opportunity Map, color countries by Volume, Difficulty or Chance. Hover a country to see its values and each app's position.
- Use the table below for the same data per country: Volume, Difficulty, each app's Position and Chance, and your Relevance.
Data is as of yesterday.
Keyword Opportunity
Find keywords where demand is meaningful, competition is manageable and expansion potential is worth pursuing. The Opportunity Keywords table lists them with Volume, Difficulty, rank for each app and your Relevance and Chance. It's sorted by relevance by default. Use the filters to narrow it down.
Keyword Opportunity is read-only. To track a keyword you find here, add it on App Keywords by typing it in the search box.
