Review, edit and approve generated metadata

Compare generated metadata with your store listing, check scores, edit fields, give feedback and approve the version you want to publish.

Updated September 30, 2026

Once a generation finishes, open it from the language's ASO History to review the result. You can compare it with your current store listing, edit it, and approve it for publishing.

Read the results

The top of the page shows Generated ASO, the language and the generation date, plus a status: whether the changes are published, not yet published, or whether you need to connect your app first.

The page has up to three sections:

  • Metadata – Title, Subtitle (called Short description on Google Play) and, on the App Store, Hidden keywords.
  • Description – if you generated a long description.
  • Patch notes – if you generated What's new text.

For each field, switch between Store (your current listing) and Generated. Changes from the store listing are highlighted as removed and added. Each field shows a character counter and a copy button. Hover a keyword to see its rank and metrics.

If a generation has several versions, switch between them with the Version tabs.

Score cards

Each field has four scores. When your current listing is available, you see the change from store to generated.

ScoreHow to read it
ScoreOverall optimization of the field. Higher is better.
VolumeSearch volume of the keywords the field targets.
DifficultyHow hard those keywords are to rank for. Lower is better.
RelevanceHow relevant those keywords are to your app.

Targeted list

The Targeted list shows the keyword combinations built from the words in this ASO, with Keywords, Combinations, Total volume and Avg. difficulty. Compare Generated with Store snapshot. Select keywords and use Send to app keywords to track them in Keyword Research, or export them to CSV or XLSX.

Edit the metadata

  1. Click the pencil (Edit metadata) on a section. An Editing chip appears.
  2. Change the text. The score is recalculated as you type, and you'll see whether it improved, dropped or stayed about the same.
  3. Optionally click Add relevant keywords to track relevant keywords from your edit.
  4. Click Save, or Cancel to discard.

Keep an eye on the character counter. The limits are 30 characters for the title, 30 for the App Store subtitle (80 for the Google Play short description) and 100 for hidden keywords.

Use the sidebar

The sidebar on the right has four tabs:

  • Feedback – rate the result with a thumbs up or down and describe what should change. This helps improve future generations.
  • Keywords – Core Keywords for the metadata and the Keyword Pool used to generate it.
  • Density – how often each keyword appears in the long description.
  • Screen View – a preview of how your listing will look in the store.

Train the algorithm

To steer future generations, add guidance – preferences, terminology, tone or things to avoid:

  • Per language: in the sidebar of a language's ASO History, use Train your algorithm.
  • For the whole app: use App settings.

Each time you save, a new guidance version is created and activated. You can restore a previous version or disable guidance from Guidance version history.

Approve

When you're happy with the result, click Approve ASO at the bottom of the page. You can also click Export as XLSX to share it first. Once approved, click Publish ASO to open the Publisher.

Want a different result? Run Generate ASO again – each run adds a new generation to the language's history.
